1946 – World War II had ended and all the world wanted to get back to peace. The period till 2004 was far from peaceful, marred by the assination of President Kennedy, the impeachment of President Nixon and the murder of Attorney General Robert Kennedy. Russia entered space travel before the U.S. did. Congress reacted by ordering public schools to teach more math, science and foreign language. This caused considerable confusion among educators and parents. Military actions included Viet Nam, Korea and Desert Storm. Recently we obliterated Afghanistan and are still entangled in a mess called Iraq. These stories make no attempt to deal directly with the above mentioned events, rather how a middle class family survived. Your author was a high school teacher, administrator and college professor, hoping to give three wonderful daughters an education suitable for their time.
